Dear Parents, Students and Well-wishers,
Greetings from Meredian College Mangalore. As you all know Meredian College successfully completed 16 years of service in the field of Higher Education. Last year was a successful year in terms of academic, cultural and sports activities. Our MSW, M Com and MIB (International Business) students (all PG students) secured excellent results in the Mangalore University examinations with several distinctions. Five of our students are in the top ten ranks in the university, which means if they maintain their performance Meredian College can look forward to have one or two ranks in the next academic year. Similarly BBM, BCA and B Com results were also much better compared to the other colleges. Considering the financial and family background of our students this achievement is very encouraging.
Similarly our football team won the Mangalore University championship. We also organized Mangalore University Women's Kho Kho tournament. Our cricket team participated in the district level competitions.
Meredian Trophy Football Tournament, Rajyothsava Trophy Volley Ball Tournament, Rhythm Twilight (Intercollegiate Carol Singing), elan (Intercollegiate Management Fest), twister (Intercollegiate IT Fest), utkarsh (National Level Social Work Students' meet) and other cultural and academic activities were very successful.
The job fair organized in association with district employment bureau and Ullal Town Municipality helped more than 200 candidates to get suitable jobs.
The study tour gave an opportunity for our students to fly for the first time in their life.
All these achievements were possible only with the active support of our teachers, students, parents, alumni as well as the well wishers of Meredian Family. During this new academic year maintaining these achievements and reaching further heights is a challenging responsibility.
We hope to start the construction of ladies hostel near the campus this year. It will help them to spend more time in the college and take more active part in academic, sports and other activities. In order to address the transportation difficulties of our students and staff, we need two buses to ply from Mangalore and Thalapady. We would like to have a corpus fund to help the financially weaker students.
We hope to start two community based projects which would facilitate economic development, promote communal harmony and would also give an opportunity for our students to have more experiential learning.
In order to accomplish these projects we need to have more support. We are optimist that with the active support of our alumni, parents and well wishers of Meredian Family, this is definitely possible.
We sincerely thank all the parents and request them to take little more active role and please be in touch with our teachers to monitor the attendance and performance of your wards.
We sincerely request all the students to take your studies more seriously and also take part in various co-curricular activities as these experience will help you to gain necessary confidence to face the professional life.
Tutorial system will be introduced wherein each teacher will be responsible for 30 students. These teachers will be primarily responsible for the academic, attendance, discipline and other development of the students. Parents may please be in touch with the respective teacher periodically.
I on behalf of Meredian College humbly request all our parents, alumni and well-wishers to kindly contribute so that we can meet the challenges and contribute to the students and society. Your contribution will be duly acknowledged in the college website www.merediancollege.com
Once again we thank you for all your guidance, support and encouragements.
